Maine Diver Videos Close Encounter With Shark - News Story - WMTW Portland
EASTPORT, Maine -- A diver off the coast of Maine had an incredibly close encounter with a shark over the weekend. Scott MacNichol, of Perry, was diving off Eastport Saturday when the porbeagle shark came right up to him and took a bite of his camera. MacNichol wasn't hurt and actually dove in the same spot again on Tuesday. The shark was about eight feet long and weighed about 300 pounds. Officials said the creature was likely not going after MacNichol, rather his camera, mistaking it for a fish.
